Summary: Major Disappointment
Comment: This umbrella, which I had hoped would be strong and sturdy, was anything but. Its flimsy construction broke in the first Chicago rainstorm I used it in. Retracting (closing) it also is poorly designed. It's in the wastebasket now. I suggest you get a look at one before buying this product. I think you'll want to try something else.

Summary: Simply the best umbrella ever!
Comment: I purchased this umbrella after I lost my old one (a large canopy, wind vented, compact) which I loved but couldn't remember who made it. So I searched and searched and couldn't decide between this one and the Gustbuster Metro. Well, after a lot of research and recommendations from friends I decided on this one. A friend of mine lives in New York and walks everywhere. He told me he owned a Gustbuster and it fell apart on him in just a few weeks and suggested Shedrain. This particular one is almost identical to the one I lost except better. It has a larger canopy and a comfort rubber grip. It's extremely well constructed and suits my needs perfectly. The only thing that some people may not like is that it is slightly thicker when folded up in it's carrying case, but this is because of the extra material to make a larger canopy. However, it's well worth it for the extra protection. Overall I am very pleased and the best umbrella I ever owned.

Summary: Great auto open and close BIG umbrella
Comment: This is a great umbrella. Open, it is as large as a golf umbrella. Two people will easily fit under it.

The construction and materials are of high quality, and it operates easily. The auto-close feature (actually, auto-fold, you still need to push the handle together) is a plus in an umbrella this size.

Being able to get in the car while holding the umbrella outside, then just pushing the button to fold it down, is a nice convenience when it is wet and windy outside.

Because this is such a large umbrella, it is larger than you would expect when folded, compared to the typical folding umbrella. This could be a minus if you really need it to be small when folded to fit into, say, a briefcase. Also, it is heavier than those other umbrellas, but not by much, and this is not really a bother.

Overall, this is a great product. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Seems to work well
Comment: As described. Also own Hammacher Schlemmers version which is significantly longer when closed. Wish it was a little shorter.

Summary: Great, Large, Compact Umbrella
Comment: The 1770 ShedRain Windpro Jumbo Mini is a great umbrella. It folds down to 14.2" yet opens to a 54" arc. It also includes a nylon case with belt loop webbing and a snap on swivel hook. I have had it for four years. Wind will blow right through it's top exhaust flap. Super strong winds, 30 miles a hour, may require the user to move their hand up toward the top a bit to avoid stressing the main shaft--or, use a two-hand hold. The shaft is guaranteed by RainShed. As of this date, February 2008, the street price of this umbrella $30 to $38 plus shipping. You can carry it on a belt, via the loop webbing on the case, or with the nylon/plastic swivel clip. Mine has seen some fairly hard use and light to heavy rains. It is well made and opens and partially closes automatically. I just bought my second Jumbo Mini tonight as yesterday I left my first one in a hotel--of course no one turned it in. You can look it up by searching ShedRain Windpro Jumbo Mini. You can find it at Amazon, REI, EBags, and many more. Many luggage shops also carry it.
