The open/close latch mechanism has also gotten stuck a few times when I closed the umbrella (the latch only closes the umbrella half way; you must manually close the umbrella), causing me to have to use a screw driver to prop the mechanism back in working order in order to close it. Customer Rating: Summary: solid and handy Comment: I decided to give this umbrella a try as I saw it at REI and figured that they usually don't mess around with outdoor gear (though I did order it off Amazon). I've had this umbrella for 2 weeks and it's been tested thoroughly as it has rained non-stop here in Seattle. It's quite solid and handles windy days quite well. I've found the auto-close is very handy. It doesn't retract back down, just collapses the umbrella. This is still very useful as you can step inside a doorway, collapse the umbrella with one click of a button, and bring it inside. The product ships through Ebags.
